Independence, Oregon AA meetings

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a major worry in society concerning substance misuse. AUD is a medical condition where an alcohol user has issues regulating the amount or frequency in which they consume alcohol, has an overpowering desire to drink, or goes through different forms of distress when they try to abstain from drinking. Alcohol consumption for an extended amount of time can result in significant brain function disruption that can last even after the person is no longer under the influence of alcohol. Considering the urgency of the disorder, treatment should be highly thought through for people who are affected. In addition to medication and clinical interventions, behavioral therapies including individual, family, or group counseling can be effective, with or without the use of medication. One of these types of treatments is offered by an international fellowship of people with different identities and backgrounds who have experienced the disorder and are willing to help other members recover and manage their lives better. This society, known as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), is found available in many parts of the world including AA Oregon. These groups of people try to present a relevant view of the principles by which AA members sober up and by which their society functions. AA meetings in Independence try to build a strong social support system where members get the help they require with honor of their privacy relating to the disorder.
