Looking for AA meetings in Somers? Somers is a town in northern Westchester County in the state of New York. It is a mildly populated area with its share of residents dealing with alcohol use disorder. NY AA meetings are held all across the state to help those who feel that their alcohol use is getting out of hand and are working to get a handle on it. Alcohol use disorder(AUD) is a brain disorder that occurs when a person has been drinking for a long time that the body has become dependent on it. Some symptoms indicate a person might be dealing with AUD. Symptoms such as constantly feeling a strong urge to drink, being unable to stop yourself from drinking even when you want to, decreasing or completely stopping extracurricular activities or hobbies and replacing them with drinking. AUD has three stages starting from mild, moderate, and finally severe, depending on the number of symptoms the person shows. Mild is when a person shows two to three symptoms and moderate is when the person shows four to five symptoms. Severe alcohol use disorder is when the person shows six or more symptoms of AUD. AA meetings provide these individuals with the support they need to combat this disorder by giving them the space to talk about and deal with their problems regarding alcohol use disorder.
