Sanford, Florida AA Meetings

Sanford is a city in the central region of Florida, known as the “Historic Waterfront Gateway City,” Sanford sits on the southern shore of Lake Monroe. If you live or work in Central Florida and have an alcohol addiction, you may want to view our online directory of AA meetings in Sanford. AA meetings Florida and other Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) groups employ a 12-Step addiction recovery program. The AA founders, Dr. Robert Smith (commonly referred to as Dr. Bob) and Bill Wilson (Bill W.), wrote the 12 Steps in the 1930s. Working the Steps is a vital aspect of AA recovery. But no two AA members will work the Steps in the same way. Each AA group member has a unique history as well as a unique recovery journey. The Steps are not meant to be worked alone; an AA sponsor (mentor) assists newcomers in learning what each of the Steps means and how to apply them to daily life. A sponsor is someone you completely trust.

Many AA members describe their sponsor as their closest confidant; some even consider their sponsor their best friend. There are a variety of ways to work the Steps. Some sponsors will suggest that you write out specific Steps and perform particular action steps to complete the Steps. Working the 12 Steps as they are outlined in The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous is said to lead to many changes in a recovering person. These changes allow a person recovering from alcohol addiction to get sober and stay sober on a long-term basis.
