Chowchilla, CA
The city of Chowchilla got its name from the indigenous American tribe of Chaushila, a Yokut Indian tribe that once lived in the area. The city, like many others in the state of California, has residents who are struggling to quit drinking. However, the city has not left its residents to fight the debilitating disease of alcoholism on their own. Support in the form of Alcoholics Anonymous is set up to provide support to locals. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is the longest operating alcohol addiction support program in the world. AA provides methods of support including its 12-step and 12 Traditions programs which are highlighted in ‘The Big Book’ – the organization’s guide. The book referred to as the organization’s ‘bible,’ is a great source of inspiration for members who are in need of a push to fight to overcome addiction. The stories and insights in this book are usually of great value to them. AA meetings open sessions’ are also non-discriminatory or apolitical. Its ‘open meetings’ encourages people who may not have a drinking problem but knows someone who does, to attend. Locals can find listed AA meetings in Chowchilla on our directory. The website, which also groups AA California meetings from other cities from the state, is updated frequently.
