Like AA, these other group support organizations all using AA’s ‘Twelve Steps’ method. The ‘Twelve Steps’ was created by the founders of AA to govern the membership aspect of the organization. AA emphasizes a connection with a higher power and encourages participants to strive for a spiritual transformation through prayer and meditation. Although the ‘Twelve Steps’ heavily focuses on spiritual principles, the program has been very beneficial to many non-religious people. The ‘Twelve Steps’ is a major component of AA meetings. Locals of Calico Rock can learn the steps by attending AA meetings in Calico Rock. Information for these meetings, as well as Arkansas AA meetings, is available on alcoholicsanonymous.com.
