Types of AA Meetings
Child-Friendly: Child-friendly AA meetings allow each member to bring up to one child to the meeting, with the expectation that the discussion will not feature experiences or language that are inappropriate for the child. Formal childcare may not be available, but the member can watch over her child while participating in the discussion.
Newcomer: AA newcomer meetings in New Hampshire help explain the basic tenets of AA to individuals who are new to the program. During this time, they can ask questions, participate in discussions, and learn more about how the 12 step recovery model operates.
Step Meeting: New Hampshire AA centers feature step meetings in their programs. Members read from AA texts, discuss their progress with the stage in the 12 Step Program, and make plans for future progress in the next meeting.
Women: New Hampshire women’s AA meetings are peer group meetings for women who are affected by alcohol addiction. Free to attend and open to all women in the community, including women who are addicted to alcohol and those who have loved ones with alcoholism, these support meetings use a 12-step program for addiction recovery.
