Types of AA Meetings
Babysitting Available: AA centers might have pre-existing available babysitting services, which they make available for members during meetings. Services vary in terms of cost, ages of children accepted, and amenities for babysitters, members, and children.
Open: Open AA meetings in South Carolina are available to anyone in the community. They are not limited to members only, which gives the public the opportunity to learn more about the organization and its unique 12 step recovery program. Members can share their stories and experiences while non-members can listen and observe.
Spanish: Spanish AA meetings are intended for members who have limited English-speaking skills or those who choose to participate in Spanish. Other features of the center, such as AA literature or sign-language interpreters, may or may not be available in Spanish.
Speaker: Speakers encourage AA members to maintain sobriety through humor, charm, reason, faith, and emotions. In South Carolina, AA centers often invite speakers to motivate their members.
