Meeting Notes

Annually, their anniversary meeting is a Long-Timers meeting where people with 20 years or more of continuous sobriety share how they did it. Usually food and snacks are provided on this night. Types of AA Meetings
Open: Open AA meetings in West Virginia are not limited to AA members only. Instead, anyone from the public is welcome to attend. This allows individuals to learn about how AA operates and what the 12 step model entails. Alcoholics and nonalcohlics can use this time to understand more about alcohol addiction recovery.
Speaker: In West Virginia, AA speakers are an effective way to motivate to harden members’ resolve against alcohol. At the AA center, Speakers are usually AA alumni and use humor, reason, charm, emotions, and faith to reinforce clients’ sobriety.
Wheelchair Access: West Virginia AA centers assist non-ambulatory clients by providing wheelchair access throughout the facility, including meeting rooms and restrooms. Exterior ramps and designated parking spaces may also be available.
