Types of AA Meetings

Discussion: In Montana, AA discussion meetings are organized around a central theme. The leader will open the meeting by sharing the topic and may read briefly from a related AA text, such as As Bill Sees It or Daily Reflections. Then, others can share their insights on the topic.

Literature: Montana literature-guided AA meetings are peer support meetings for people who are impacted by alcohol addiction. These group meetings study AA literature such as the Big Book of AA and other writings by AA founders and leaders. All are welcome to attend at no cost.

Open: Open AA meetings in Montana allow anyone from the community to attend. Individuals can learn more about how AA operates, including the 12 step model of recovery. This information is designed to support anyone looking for help in overcoming alcohol addiction as well as friends and loved ones of those in addiction recovery.

Wheelchair Access: Montana AA meetings may include wheelchair access for non-ambulatory clients. These features may include an open meeting hall, restroom access, exterior ramps, and designated parking.
