East New Market, Maryland AA Meetings

East New Market is a town in Dorchester County, Maryland. A portion of the town’s tiny population is struggling with alcohol addiction. Thankfully, these residents can turn to Alcoholics Anonymous programs that have been set up in their community as a way of offering support to the members of its community who are alcohol dependent. Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA, is a global group support organization that was founded by Dr. Bob Smith and Bill Wilson in 1935 with the primary aim of helping people overcome alcohol addiction. The men, who themselves overcame alcohol addiction before starting AA, later developed the now popular ‘Twelve Steps’ program before establishing the ‘Twelve Traditions.’ Both methods govern the organization – the ‘Twelve Steps’ focuses on the individuals while the ‘Twelve Traditions’ focuses on AA as a group. The ‘Twelve Steps’ encourages accountability and responsibility from its members, which leads them to admit that they have an alcohol dependency. Many of the steps emphasize a connection with a higher power and encourages members to strive for a spiritual transformation through prayer and meditation. However, they do not specifically apply to any single faith and do not force any religious principles and fundamentals on its members as AA is not a religious organization. Alcoholicsanonymous.com groups AA meetings for states across America. The directory groups AA meetings Maryland where you can find the locations to AA meetings in East New Market.
