Types of AA Meetings
Closed: Closed AA meetings in Washington, D.C. are only open to AA members and individuals who want to find help to overcome a drinking problem. Anyone can participate in the discussion, which usually focuses on a specific aspect of alcohol addiction and recovery.
LGBTQ: Selected AA chapters focus on providing a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, and generally welcome LGBTQ+ allies. These groups prioritize members’ recovery and sobriety within a non-heteronormative context.
Literature: AA literature meetings in Washington DC are support group meetings for people in the community who are affected by alcohol addiction. These meetings are free to attend and offer a study of the Big Book of AA and other recovery writings by AA founders and leaders as part of a 12-step addiction recovery program.
Women: Washington, DC AA meetings for women are women-centered peer support meetings for those who are affected by alcohol addiction - women who suffer from alcoholism or who have loved ones with alcohol addiction. Open to women of all ages and with no cost to attend, these meetings offer support and peer fellowship with the guidance of a 12-step recovery program.
