Types of AA Meetings

Big Book: In Colorado AA centers, clients may participate in Big Book discussions. This text features real men and women who overcame alcohol use disorder and can inspire clients to strengthen their resolve.

Closed: Closed AA meetings in Colorado are restricted to just members or anyone who has a drinking problem and wants to seek help. Discussions are informal. Everyone is encouraged to participate and share about their alcohol addiction and recovery journey.

Grapevine: Grapevine is a monthly magazine published by AA. Its contents, written by AA members, generally feature the experiences of individuals with alcohol use disorder, and articles are often discussed in AA meetings.

Men: Colorado AA meetings provide 12 Step Programs to facilitate recovery from alcohol use disorder at no cost. Select meetings may be available only to men of all ages to focus on issues that primarily affect men.

Newcomer: In Colorado, AA newcomer meetings help individuals who are just starting recovery learn more about how AA works and what to expect in the 12 step program. They can share their experiences, learn about available resources, and receive literature to help them on their journey.

Open: Open AA meetings in Colorado aren’t restricted to members only. Instead, anyone from the community is welcome to attend and learn more about how AA works and what the 12 step recovery model includes. This includes friends, family members, and spouses of individuals seeking alcohol addiction treatment.

Wheelchair Access: Colorado AA meetings with wheelchair access allow non-ambulatory clients to safely navigate the facility, including meeting halls and restrooms. The center generally has accessible parking spots and ramps.

Women: Colorado women’s AA meetings are community support meetings for women who are impacted by alcohol addiction. Free of charge for all women, these meetings use a 12-step program to help women at all stages of alcoholism recovery, offering a safe and productive space for community support for women of all ages.
