Meeting Notes
We meet every Friday night at 6:30 PM at the Twelve Step Recovery Club at 186 South D Street in Porterville. We are an Open discussion meeting for Women only. The reason we call it a loose meeting is because it doesn't follow the typical AA format. It's a discussion meeting: somebody picks a topic and people talk about the topic. Cross-talk is welcome. We average about nine to ten girls, including the girls from PAAR who might have a couple of days of sobriety, to women with up to 43 years of sobriety, proving the program works.

Types of AA Meetings
Cross Talk Permitted: Cross talk refers to speech in AA meetings that are directed toward a specific member, rather than the group, and is generally critical. Crosstalk is generally not permitted in AA because it is considered disruptive and can undermine the unity of the group. However, some AA chapters allow cross talk in discussions.
Open: Open AA meetings in California are informative in nature, designed for those seeking help for alcohol addiction and anyone interested in learning about the 12 step recovery model. Members are encouraged to share their stories and provide tips for recovery, helping observers learn more about how the program works and what their loved ones can expect.
Women: California women’s AA meetings are peer support meetings for women who are affected by alcohol addiction. Using a 12-step curriculum, these meetings help women at all stages of alcoholism recovery, offering a safe and productive space for community support. These meetings are available at no charge for women of all ages.
